"I am excited that Deputy James Mclaughlin AKA MAC has announced he will be running for sheriff. A man is nothing more than his word and for those of us who have had the pleasure to get to know him knows what that means with Deputy McLaughlin. But for those of you who haven’t met him yet let me tell you. He has a stellar work record, the respect of his peers and awards to speak about what type of Sheriff he will be. But as a member of the community in which he wants to serve let me tell you about the Mac I know. He was one of the men responsible for seeing justice for my girl. I have read the transcript and seen video of the 6 hour confession of my daughter’s murderer. It was hard to read and I can only imagine how hard it was for him, who is also a Dad, to have to sit across from a true monster. Mac did it with integrity and professionalism. He did not let the defendant victimize my daughter again with his lies. He protected who she was and was a defender of her character. He made it possible for me to feel like I had voice during the interrogation through his words. And gave us the answers we needed answered. He sat with us in court and answered our questions when we just couldn’t make sense of it all. Kaylee was taken in July and so July has been a tough time the last 9 years for our family. A year ago I let Mac know our family has taken July back with the birth of my beautiful granddaughter Lilian Kaylee. And this year is Mac’s turn with his announcement of his intensions to run for Sheriff. I was there when he was awarded the MIT award and I will share part of what I said in my speech. “I have heard that police badges are in the shape of a shield because Law Enforcers shield us and the community they serve from danger.” Our community deserves to feel that protection and I know Deputy McLaughlin is the Sheriff who could provide us with that."

James is trustworthy, true, and compassionate. The professional picture that captured the moment of James walking a neighbor kid down a community road is quite telling. He cares by providing outstanding leadership, vision, & protection. I have and would entrust my family with him. Grateful to be able to publicly voice my support of James McLaughlin in his run for such an important office.

Since the first time I met James, his character expressed comfort, genuine care, humble strength and an unfailing resolve to conquer and succeed with any task given. For the last 9 years, James has honored our family and the memory of our daughter with support well beyond the job description. To this day, James still encourages and energizes me to keep going whenever we speak, he makes me smile. His faith and dedication to those around him I can only hope to match. Far as trust goes, I know without a doubt I could trust him to do the right thing in any circumstance, even if it meant his persecution. I would trust him with my family's life, in fact I was able to trust him in the most terrible of circumstances, finding my daughter. He was tasked with that terrible mission and did not fail. Of course, he did not act in a vacuum and there's MANY others I could speak similarly about, but at the moment we're putting the spotlight on James. You'd be hard pressed to find a more forward thinking fit leader.
